Meet Ms. Charest
This year will be my 14th year teaching elementary school and my fourth year teaching at Lewis (previously kindergarten & the science lab). Before transferring to Lewis, I taught for five years at Kennesaw Elementary. There I spent three years teaching 1st grade before moving up to 2nd for two years. My teaching career began in 2003 at Paulding County's Hiram Elementary where I taught 1st grade for five years.
In 2012, I completed an endorsement in gifted education, and I am currently enrolled in the Instructional Technology Master's Degree program at Kennesaw State, which is also where I received my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education in 2002.
In my free time, I love to spend time outdoors with my friends and family. My partner of 9 years, Thad, and I love to go camping, kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing and traveling expedition style in our 4 wheel drive Toyota. Cooking and reading are my favorite rainy day activities.
This year is going to be a great year and I hope you will contact me with any questions you may have!
I believe all students can learn when supported by their teachers, parents and other adults in their lives. They need to be given a voice and should be involved in the path of their learning. I believe all students have smarts in different areas and my job is to help them find that strength and then help it bloom. My job is also to help them dig into the areas where they struggle and find out how to overcome those struggles.
